"Interview with Red Nude"

1. How did you come to the decision to model nude?
Turned 40, lost weight, felt better about body image. Wanted to do it.

2. Did you contact the artist or did he approach you to model?
Happen to meet him in on a random trip to Raleigh while visiting Artspace. Saw some other nude paintings of his and he showed me the sepia works, which were exactly how I pictured mine being.

3. How did you go about telling your friends or family you were going to model nude?
I didn’t tell my family. Didn’t tell friends until afterward. Most often, people just saw them hanging in my house.

4. What were some of their reactions to your experience?
Surprised, impressed.

5. How long was your modeling secession?
At least a few hours.

6. Where you comfortable, for example hot or cold when you modeled?
Can’t remember being hot or cold.

7. Did you have to hold a pose for a significant period of time?
Just long enough to get painted. Can’t remember any pose being particularly long, although I do remember being called the "laziest model ever." Hahahahaha.

8. Models generally create the poses and sometimes are given suggestions by the artist. What was the case in your modeling session?
I had to be told what to do. Not inventive enough to pose on my own.

9. Where scars, pubic hair, tattoos, body shape or piercings an issue for your modeling secession?
No.

10. Where you comfortable modeling?
Yes.

11. What about Eric made you comfortable modeling for him?
He’s a teddy bear, and very professional.

12. Did you feel comfortable with your body image before you modeled?
For about a year before I modeled; not before then.

13. Did modeling help your self-confidence?
Absolutely.

14. How do you feel about your body since you have modeled nude?
Indifferent. Still need to work out to tone up.

15. What do you like most about your body?
My hair.

16. Did you find modeling nude erotic?
No.

17. How do you feel about the paintings of you?
They’re beautiful.

18. How were you paid for your modeling secession?
With one of the paintings of my choosing.

19. How was it working with the artist?
Fun, professional, educational

20. From the model's perspective, what did you find most interesting about watching the artist paint?
Watching the artist study the figure and position. Just watching the paintings come to life.
