"Passing of NCCU Alumnus and Artist Ivey Hayes"

NCCU announces with sadness the passing of NCCU alumnus and artist Ivey Hayes. Hayes graduated in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in art.

In February of this year, the NCCU Art Museum featured his work in an exhibit, “Ivey Hayes: A Retrospective.” At a closing reception, Hayes was presented with a resolution in his honor.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

"Jazz: The Classical Music of America"

Eric McRay gives his personal interpretation of jazz, "the classical music of America."

His goal is to cause his audience to "hear the music and feel the intensity." Through his brilliant color, expressive brushstrokes, and improvisational application of acrylic paint, McRay captures the vibrancy and spontaneity of his musical subjects.

These paintings will materialize this auditory art form of jazz, as a two dimensional visual art form, producing a dynamic, "visual rhythm."
